Composite Materials Development and Evaluation
TRI Austin’s composites capabilities range from developing materials to producing them. We formulate resins and select materials. We also do solid modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), structural analysis, and materials testing and characterization. And we can manufacture these materials in house.
We optimize materials to address specific service challenges, among them salt water, hydrostatic pressure, chemical challenges, and thermal cycling. Then we evaluate each material on performance, manufacturing requirements, and cost.
TRI Austin’s polymer chemistry group develops custom resin formulations for demanding applications. We’ve developed composite material systems to meet fire, smoke, and toxicity requirements. We’ve also come up with a UV curable resin for use in aircraft repair and construction.
TRI Austin can design and analyze composite structures using the latest 3D solid modeling and FEA software. We’re experienced with SolidWorks, COSMOSM, and CompositePro.
